Coming soon to the Crane household!

So I have not posted in the longest time.  I do have a good reason... I didn't want to spill the beans that...

We're expecting!

Baby Crane is expected to join us around Aug 5th 2013.  We don't know if we're having a boy or girl yet, hopefully find out next month.  Jeremy is convinced its a girl...so we'll see. We'll probably find out in March. We told both families over Christmas, which was exciting.  We found out a week after Thanksgiving and it was hard to keep it a secret from everyone until Christmas.  Especially since we stayed with family for a few days before telling them.  I was fairly nauseated the first few months so I'm sure my parents thought I'd developed a strange addiction to sprite and was really weird in insisting we needed to have dinner NOW.  Not in an hour! :)  I don't know if it was a complete surprise for my family or not, but it was fun to see them unwrap their presents on Christmas morning.  We bought some 'Little Critter' books on going to grandma/grandpa's house and gave it to the respective future grandparent.  On the inside it says "this book belongs to ______" It was fun to write Baby Crane and August 2013 below it.  My dad asked if this was an announcement, and it was fun to tell him YES! My parents are excited.  I think they've been wanting to be grandparents for a while, alot of their friends are grandparents now.  My sister Aymee was priceless.  Dayna caught on pretty quickly when she saw the books, but poor Aymee.  She asked what was going on when everyone got excited and saw the books and was like "What...?".  Finally my mom practically spelled it out for her "Kayley is having a baby".  You could still see the gears grinding as she tried to process what that meant. I don't think something like that has really ever entered her world. She'll be more excited when it sinks in and becomes more real for her.  In the meantime...I think those gears will grind for a while.

Telling Jeremy's family was fun.  We told his dad and stepmom with some letters.  One got two B's and the other got A, Y.  We'd hoped they would unwrap their presents together, but that didn't happen, but they were able to figure it out pretty quick on their own.  We told Jer's mom by sneaking a bib the said something like "thank heaven for grandma's"  into her present.  It was funny...she didn't quite grasp what we were trying to tell her.  I guess with the two other grandbabies it looked like we were just saying she was a good grandma.  I had to say....ummm that's kind of an announcement.  It was fun to see the realization dawn on her face.  Of course when we showed Ashley she figured it out really fast.  It sure was fun to tell everyone and see the surprise on their faces.  Of course everyone is excited... as my dad says, its the babies that keep a family young and fun.

Things have gotten a bit different in my life. I never dreamed pregnancy would rock my world like it has.  I've been sick up until a few weeks ago.  I'm so very happy that things are settling down now.  I still get nauseated from time to time but for the most part things are better.  Now more than anything I'm tired. I fell asleep at the movie theater last night.  It was dark and warm and I had Jer's shoulder.  There was no hope for me.  I think that's more because of school/work.  I'm up at 6 so my tummy settles and I can be there by 8. I'm in my last semester of school so I'm doing 40 hours of fieldwork a week. The days are long and tiring.    It's been hectic and stressful, but I am enjoying it.  I'm so grateful I'm only 15 weeks along (16 on Monday!).  I have classmates that are due the week after graduation, and I think that would be really hard to do.  I'll roast this summer (already am!), but hopefully there won't be the stress of trying to complete fieldwork and worrying what happens if the baby comes early.  Not to mention the fact I'm already tired...can't imagine what it'll be like in four months!

All in all... there's alot of excitement in the Crane household right now.  We go to the doctor on Monday and we'll hear the heartbeat.  I'm excited for that.  Sometimes I wonder...is there really a baby in there?  I hope so or else I've got to go on a serious diet!  When we went last month the doctor heard the heartbeat but couldn't pin it long enough to point it out to us.  Hopefully since our little one is bigger this go around we'll really get to hear it.  Exciting stuff coming!
