To Colorado and Back!

Time for an update.  Life gets busy, and things like blogs get pushed to the 'when I have time' list.  Or the 'I don't want to do homework' list.  Currently its on the latter list.  I've done a fair amount..but I'm also ready to be done for the day.

Since I've posted a few things have happened.  I finally decided it was time to quit Deseret Book.  As much as I loved working there and getting to know my co-workers, it was time.  I wasn't focusing on school like I wanted to, alot of stuff was being done last minute and not at my best.  I was stressed all the time and felt like I was always running from one thing to the next and giving nothing my all.  So it was time to say goodbye.  Things have been better.  I still stay busy and occasionally miss DB but not being so stressed helps.

School continues on.  I have one more week of classes, then finals and then I am DONE!  Done with classes for quite a while!  I will have fieldwork next semester then I GRADUATE.  What a big word that is!  I will be doing my fieldwork at Provo Rehab, and Utah Valley Medical Center. I am really excited.  Both were the types of places I wanted to go to.  I will be there for about 40 hours a week until May.  Its going to be good.  I hope I'll be smart enough!

We also had a fun trip to Colorado a couple of weeks ago.  Jeremy had needed a break from work and I had the weekend off from school, so we decided to take off.  It was so much FUN! I got to go back and play the tourist that I never got to.  We also saw some people from my mission.  I didn't get to see everyone I wanted to (that would have taken days...).  So I kind of had to choose who we felt was right.  One thing that was very rewarding for me was seeing how happy people were to see me.  I look back on my mission and everyone I met is such a treasure for me.  Its nice to see that some people feel the same way about me. It seems in some little way I was seeing some of the other fruits from my mission. I do have a confession, if I had to move there... I wouldn't be all that sad about it.  I love Colorado Springs.

We started off in Denver where we went to the Denver temple.  Also while in Denver we HAD to stop by the lego store for Jeremy.  Please watch the video at the very end! While we were there we got to see some Anasazi ruins.  Jeremy thought those were pretty cool. I've seen some before, but these were neat because you could walk in and be in there.  We also went to Garden of the Gods and toured around there. Manitou Springs was alot of fun as well. Jeremy discovered the Penny Arcade and we had a ball with that.  And we bought fudge.  One last really neat thing we did was we stopped by the fallen firefighters memorial, which was very special.  I wish we had thought to bring flowers. Overall it was an amazing trip and I am so SO happy we went.

We came back and things settled down into the norm...until about two days ago.

When we were in Colorado we had one minor car issue.  One time it wouldn't start. Jeremy wiggled some wires and after a few minutes (and a panic attack...and prayer)  it started. We decided we'd be careful and hope it made it home.  It did do that and Jeremy was going to look at it when he had a day off.  Well on Tuesday I ran to McDonald's to get some lunch, I was starving.  And sure enough the car wouldn't start.  Then randomly it decided w it would.  Go figure.  But we decided to have the starter tested.  So yesterday Jeremy was tearing my car apart and we tested the starter.  The tester thingy said it was okay...so we were back to square one.  Well we didn't have time to put the starter back into my car before we had to leave, so we were just going to take Jeremy's car.  Well we get to point of the mountain...and there is clicking noises and no power steering.  Basically that car died as well.  Really we had to be down both cars????  So we had that one towed and Jeremy stayed home to work on cars.  Well he put the starter back in my car and now it won't start.  Period.  Great... we are officially stranded.  I found a ride to and from school yesterday.  Hopefully I can find one tomorrow as well.  The starter for my car will come tomorrow and hopefully that will do the trick.  Then it will be on to working with Jeremy's car.  What a nightmare it has been.  Before I've always taken comfort in the fact at least we've always had ONE car running. To be down two makes things difficult.  At least Jer can take the bus and I have classmates that live fairly close by.  Things can always be worse.  At least we weren't in an accident, and we are fairly sure of what the problems are.

So other than our car issues, things are going well. Jeremy has decided on a career, which makes me so incredibly happy.  We were talking about career options when I remembered there was a Biotechnology program upstairs at school.  We started looking into it and it seemed like something Jeremy would love to do.  So we tentatively  made time for him to go to the open house.  We went and he had a ball.  I enjoyed it too, even though i didn't know much of what was going on.  It was free food, a T-shirt and so nice to see Jeremy enjoying himself.  After the tour he scheduled appointments with the counselors and he really feels like this is what he wants to do.  It is so amazing to see him get excited about school and a potential career.  He will take the intro class next spring, a second class in the summer, and then be full time next fall.  Hopefully he'll have his associates by Spring of 2014 and then can move onto his bachelors.  The field is decent with lots of openings and a variety of ways to go.  Its looking like something that will be good for him. I'm just excited he has something that both of us feel good about and it doesn't require a masters or doctorate degree!!

I am so excited for Christmas to come. I'm ready for Christmas break and snow.  Wouldn't a snowstorm that keeps everyone inside be great???
