School Begins!

Wednesday I started school.  Excited? yes  Nervous?  you bet!  I start the Occupational Therapy Assisting Program at SLCC.  Its a two year program so in Spring of 2013 I'll be able to sit for the COTA board exams and become certified!  In the meantime I think my life is about to get busy!  I have class Monday through Thursday.  I will be done with class about one-ish give or take an hour, except on Tuesdays it will be more like four.  But on Mondays and Thursdays I might have clinic until 6.  Fridays are fieldwork where I'll be following other COTAs and learning from them.  Oh yeah and plus homework!  It's going to be an intense set of classes.  I really hope I'm up for it.  I have some fears and worries, mostly about failing.  But that's doubt and doubt and fear come from the advisary so I try not to listen.  I'm grateful for the support of my loving husband.  Without him I don't think I could do this.  I won't be able to work much, so we'll be living on his salary.  I'd probably starve to death if I was trying to live on my own. :)  He is also my biggest cheerleader.  He keeps telling me I will be able to do this.

So enough mushy stuff.  I am excited to learn how to help people.  I'm so excited to learn how to help people overcome their different disabilities and adapt to this world.  There is so much in the world of Occupational Therapy.  So many different ways to help people and places to work.  There is so much to learn and apply.  It will be lots of fun.
