So its been forever since I've written! I was looking at the 'dashboard' thingy and it told me I haven't written in over a month. No way! How has it been that long? But alas it has. I guess life has settled into a routine in a way. I'm not saying that nothing exciting happens, just life is routine these days I guess.
Lets see what has happened since I last wrote. It seems one of the biggest things is the saga of Jeremy's car. About a month ago Jer and I were heading to a Bee's game. I was excited. I may not be the biggest fan of baseball, but I've always wanted to go. Ebay was giving us tickets and parking, it was in a suite with food! So off we go. We get to 13th south and start hearing a thump-thump-thump-thump... we thought maybe the plastic thingy up front had fallen and was getting caught or something. We were going to Walmart to grab me some allergy drugs so I wouldn't be sneezing and itching the whole game. (That would be a bummer) we start pulling into the parking lot and Jeremy loses power steering. Bad news. So we coast into a parking spot and Jeremy pops the hood. Turns out the serpentine belt is shredded. So now what do we do. Well when you have a backyard mechanic with his tools, and not a whole ton of money you end up trying to fix it yourself. Of course Walmart doesn't carry serpentine belts, but the auto-zone a mile away does. So hiking we go. To make a very long story shorter, we spend the next three hours hiking to auto-zone and back and then fixing the darn thing. There isn't much I can do but be a cheerleader and flashlight holder, so that's what I do. We finally get it fixed and all we want to do is go home. We've already missed the game anyways. We get on the freeway about to 33rd south. Thump-thump-thump-thump! So we pull over...again. This time it seems we have no choice but to call a tow truck. I've never ridden in a tow truck before, so that was an adventure. An expensive adventure by the way... $3 a mile! That adds up faster than groceries at wal-mart! When we finally made it home we just crashed. Jer thought it was the tension pulley. I agreed because I didn't know any different :-D So he replaced that. We took it around the block and up the hill. He even made it to work okay. But on the way home, the stupid thing shredded again! So once again stranded on the freeway. We didn't want to pay for a tow bill so we called up Jer's brother Josh. He has a big blue truck and Jeremy had his tow ropes. So he came out from West Valley and the hooked him up. Towing on the freeway...something if I never have to do in my life again I'll be okay with. We were a couple miles north of the Alpine exit, which was a blessing. From Thanksgiving point it wasn't too bad...we just took State Street all the way home. Back roads would have been better traffic wise, but the ones I thought of either had dips or hills, neither one sounded like a good idea. Finally we made it home, thanks to Josh. Then we all went to Denny's for our favorite comfort food. :) To make a very long story somewhat short, we finally found out it was the crankshaft pulley. It hooks up to the engine, and is a pain in the butt to get to. I had to laugh with our neighbor. Jer went over to borrow a wrench from him, the bolt he was using was too big for the ones he had, and the guy asked him what he was doing. Jeremy told him about the pulley and the belt. The gentleman looks at Jer and says "Oh...that means work." lol, no kidding! This saga has a happy ending...its been over a week and the belt looks good and the car runs better than it has in ages. Hopefully we'll have a reprieve for a bit when it comes to cars.
Lets see...what else has happened. My birthday has come and gone of course. :) Jeremy spoiled me of course. I got flowers and pancakes, and a special surprise. For those of you who've seen Tangled imagine the scene where all the lanterns were floating up in the air. Jer recreated it for me. Only he put star shaped sticky notes on the walls in the stairwell. It looks so amazing! I stand at the bottom of the stairs and I can see the stars going upward. Also on a bunch of them he wrote the sweetest things. :) I am so lucky to have him in my life. My family also came and met up with us at spaghetti factory at trolley square. I'm glad they came, it wouldn't have been the same if I hadn't had my family there. We thought about seeing a movie, but were too late so we got ice cream and hung out at the gateway. Brennan and Aymee played in the fountains. Aymee pretending she didn't want to get wet and Brennan being a brother and making sure she got wet. It was fun to watch. My final gift from Jer was he got me tickets to see Mary Poppins when it comes to SLC in September! I'm so excited. I tell everyone what he got me and they laugh saying it was right up my alley. The funny thing was Brennan was thinking of getting the exact same thing for me! So the two of them split it. In the end my tickets actually came from my two favorite boys in my life. I had such a good birthday. Jeremy's mom also came up from Salina to have lunch with me, that was a nice treat to have her come up.
Let's see what else has happened....? I did have COTA orientation this week. I'm excited, scared, anxious, and a whole other mess of emotions. The program looks to be pretty intense. I'll be in class from 8 AM to noon or four depending on the day, Monday through Thursday. Fridays will be fieldwork and service projects. Then on Mondays and Thursdays will be clinic in the afternoons. A good chunk of the rest of my time will be spend studying by the sound of it. I don't know how much I will be able to work. We can live on Jeremy's income, but it will be a challenge and some sacrifices. And we got my textbook list and looked up books on amazon and stuff, $700!!! I can't believe we will be spending that much! They want current editions of course...ouch. But we'll make it through. We have to, there's no choice. In the end it will be worth it. I'll have a stable job, and hopefully one that will let me work around having a family and contribute to the finances. Its only two years after all... At least it looks like the government will give me $3,000 for the year. That will at least take care of tuition. That's a relief. Things will work out.
Well...that's the big events of the past month and a half. Not much happens I guess. Jeremy works alot and I try to stay busy. Work has picked up some, I have a new client with 10 hours. That's good news. Other than that...just try to stay busy if I can. Enjoy the moment and let tomorrow take care of itself. With so many uncertainties coming and worries, I try to remember things will work out. I'm in the Lord's hands and he won't let me down. Things will work out for the best. I have a loving husband who loves and supports me and I have my faith in God. What more do I need? All will be well.
